PREPAID PURCHASE PROCEDURE

Please take note that vendee has two prepaid purchase options, either via a Retail outlet e.g. Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Standard Bank, Absa etc. or via EFT and as explained below.

EFT Purchases:

  • Vendee is by default registered for prepaid purchase via the Retail purchase option.

  • For purchases via EFT, vendee needs to register with UtilityPal by email to prepaid@utilitypal.co.za with the following details: vendee unit number # vendee meter number # vendee mobile number. UtilityPal need this registration details as UtilityPal will send vended tokens to vendee’s registered mobile number.

  • Should vendee need tokens send to a new mobile number, vendee would need to resubmit the registration SMS or email with the new mobile number. This number will then become the number that we will send the token to.

  • With regards to EFT purchases, it is recommended that the vendee create a new beneficiary UtilityPal on their internet banking profile using UtilityPal bank corresponding with vendee’s own bank, e.g. ABSA to ABSA. Vendee needs to ensure using their meter number as the beneficiary/payment reference, when transacting via EFT.

  • Minimum EFT purchase amount of R110 will apply. Purchases less than R110 will only be available via retail outlet/online purchase.

  • Vendees who bank with financial institutions other than banks mentioned below, need to make payment to UtilityPal’s Standard Bank account using the Standard Bank account details below. NB! In this case, vendee need to setup an email proof of payment directly from vendee’s bank, to: prepaid@utilitypal.co.za

  • Upon UtilityPal receiving vendee’s proof of payment, IUB will SMS a twenty-digit numeric token to vendee’s registered mobile number. Vendee need to activate their meter with the twenty-digit numeric token.

Retail/Online Purchases:

  • Should vendee be registered with UtilityPal for the prepaid purchase EFT option and elects to change to prepaid purchase via retail outlet/online purchase, vendee needs to inform UtilityPal by sending vendee’s meter number followed by DEACTIVATE to email address prepaid@utilitypal.co.za

  • Prepaid purchase will be available via retail outlets and online via Easy Pay etc.

  • Easy Pay and Blue Label are third party companies that provide pay points at various retail outlets and online purchasing via internet websites.

  • Easy Pay point of sale devices prints a twenty-digit prepayment token.

  • Blue Label points of sale devices distribute an UNIPIN voucher that vendee would redeem for a prepayment token by completing the instructions on the UNIPIN slip.
